Setting Up Gemini Gems for Consistent Brand Magic

At AI Supercharge, we've settled on Gemini as our go-to AI tool because our entire business runs within the Google suite, making integration seamless and straightforward.
But here's where things get really exciting: Gemini has this amazing little feature called Gems that can transform how you create consistent, on-brand content. Think of it as training your own personal AI assistant who knows your business inside and out.
What Exactly Are Gemini Gems?
Imagine having a team member who never forgets your brand guidelines, always writes in your voice, and can create content at the drop of a hat. That's essentially what a Gem does – it's a customised version of Gemini that you've trained with your specific business knowledge, tone, and requirements.
The beauty is that once you've set it up properly, you can access all that knowledge without having to remember every detail yourself. Setting Up Your First Gem: A Step-by-Step Guide
Ready to create your own content-generating assistant? Here's how to set up a Gem that works:
1. Find the Create Button
Head into Gemini and look for the "Create" button in the top left corner – that's your gateway to Gem creation.
2. Create a Clear Title
Give your Gem a specific, descriptive name. For example, I created one called "LinkedIn Posts by AI Supercharge" – immediately clear what it's for and who it represents.
3. Add Your Business Context
In the content section, describe what your business does. For my LinkedIn Gem, I added: "This Gem is for creating LinkedIn posts about AI Supercharge – New Zealand's best in-person AI training provider."
4. Set Content Parameters
Specify your requirements clearly. I wanted posts around 400 words that had a warm and friendly tone, so I included those exact specifications.
5. Upload Your Tone of Voice Document

6. Include Sample Content
Add examples of posts or content you feel are uniquely your style and ideally, have had high engagement. These become templates for the Gem to understand your style and approach.
7. Specify People and Mentions
If you regularly mention specific people or companies, add those details. For instance, I might always want to tag my co-founder @Serge

Hit that save button in the top right corner – don't forget this step!

Include specific instructions about what you want the Gem to create. For LinkedIn posts, I might specify: "Please create engaging LinkedIn posts that encourage interaction and reflect AI Supercharge's expertise."

10. Set Content Restrictions
Tell your Gem what NOT to do. You might want to avoid particular words, topics, or approaches that don't align with your brand. E.g. always use NZ English
